Hebridean Reeds - Highland pipe chanter reed

Our reeds are made in small batches from French and Spanish cane. The reeds are designed to be played in a variety of pipe chanters and are tested in several different chanters by today's leading makers including Naill, Shepherd and McCallum.

Due to being a small business with one reed maker, we have limited stock available at any one time so your reeds may be made to order with an approximate lead time of 2-3 weeks.

Reed strength is measured with a pressure gauge and categorised as follows: 

Easy/Medium: 28-32 inches of water (Approximately)

Medium: 32-36 inches of water (Approximately)

Standard pitch reeds pitch around 476-482hz depending on the pipe chanter and playing conditions. 

The reeds are carefully packaged in small cardboard boxes featuring our Hebridean Reeds logo. 

All orders are sent using Royal Mail tracked 48. 

Please note that we are currently unable to post reeds to EU countries due to new GPSR trade rules. We hope to be able to post to the EU again soon.
